但政府与人民并未知难而退，经过三年的经济恢复，国民经济得到了根本好转，期间抗美援朝的胜利，西藏的和平解决这些好消息不断发生，土地改革的成功提高了农业生产的积极性，彻底消灭了地主阶级，这亦是我国史上一个重要而英明的决策。虽然经济好转了不少，可我国却仍然是一个极为落后的农业国，党和中央又因此发展了国民经济的第一个五年计划，“一五”计划实行的过程中，我国鞍山钢铁公司大型轧钢厂等三大工程建换成投产，第一辆汽车，第一架喷气式飞机的生产，武汉长江大桥，川藏、青藏、新藏公路的建成，第一部宪法的颁布，东北工业基地形成这一切都预示着我国开始改变了工业落后的面貌，向社会主义工业化迈进。当时的中国经过三大改造之后，政府与人民都雄心勃勃，认为经济建设速度可以更快一些，于是巨大的失误就这样产生了，“超英赶美平常事”“种出的玉米比人还高”“一亩田地收获上万斤……“大跃进”和人民公社化运动就在这些轰轰烈烈的口号声中开展起来，这一切也带给了全中国人民极大的困难以及灾难性的后果。
