敬爱的老师、亲爱的同学：

大家早上好！

在今天的演讲之前，我想先和同学们回顾两则广告的宣传语：第一则：小草说：“不要从我身上踏过，请脚下留情！”第二则：“请节约用水吧，否则后的一滴水将会是您的眼泪。”听了这两则广告，不难猜出，今天我要演讲的主题就是“环境保护”。

首先，对于环境保护你了解了多少？你知道世界关于环境保护制定了哪些国际日吗？我想，我们熟知的应该有3月12日的植树节，3月22日的世界水日，5月31日的世界无烟日，还有重要就是即将来临的6月5日的“世界环境日”。今年是第35个世界环境日，主题是“沙漠和荒漠化”。这一主题对于我国的国情而言是十分贴切的。我国以大约7%的耕地养活着大约世界21%的人口，土地荒漠化又是世界上严重的国家之一，这对于我们每一个中国人而言，都是十分揪心的事。为我们的古城嘉兴，为我们的一中校园，尽一份心力。所以，我认为，我们可以从以下的几个方面做起。

第一：树立环保意识，广泛地了解环保知识。我们的政治课、历史课就都曾对环境问题做过介绍。自然科学书也曾写到恐龙灭绝的原因是环境问题。中国历的古国楼兰神秘消失，与当时风沙肆虐、水资源短缺有关。中央电视台的“科技博览”、“人与自然”等栏目就对环境做了细致的介绍。观后，我也不乏了解到了一些知识，如今我国的沙漠面积正以每年2460万平方千米的速度发展，面积超过国土的40%。

第二：积极参加环保活动。环境保护，要从小事做起。在这里，我想提出几个新的建议：

“1少用罐装食品和饮料；2旧衣物捐给贫困者；3少吃口香糖；”

后，我要说的是人人行动起来吧，让我们为环保事业尽一份心力。

Many people are active in fighting against unfair treatment to coloredpeople, women , animals and so on. Right now I am talking about fighting forrespect to our environment. Though the environment doesn’t have a mouth todeprecate what humans have done to her, she retaliates through action. In theearly years the Chinese cut down large quantities of trees, at the source of theyellow river, which led to the disappearance of big forests and terriblefloods.

As a result，the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass andforests was turned into barrens that supported fewer plants. Another example wasin several developed countries. Because many chemical factories dischargedpoisonous gas without filtering it, cities were covered with so much poisonousgas that people were killed by the air they breathed in. What horrible scene!What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature once suffered. Ifwe don’t take action to show respect to the environment, we will have to face anincreasingly awful situation. Measures should be taken to protect theenvironment on which we are relying.
